All of Brewster’s Ocean beaches are located on Cape Cod Bay. The “Brewster Flats” as they are called, are a breathtaking site at low tide and allow one to walk out a mile or more. Many of the Brewster's homes and Inns are former Sea Captain homes from the 18th and 19th century. This feature has been a Brewster vacation rentals draw for generations and remains so to this day.
Nestled in the north middle sector of Cape Cod Massachusetts is a small old sea captains' town called Brewster. The town of Brewster was once part of Harwich (the North Parish). In 1803 the North Parish was spun off to become incorporated as Brewster and the newer section of Harwich (the South Parish) remained as Harwich. Located on Cape Cod Bay, this town in Barnstable County/Barnstable Town metro area was named after colonist William Brewster. The town encompasses approximately twenty three square miles, including over 325 acres of beach and marshlands, with 24 ponds larger than 10 acres in size. One well known resident included the writer Conrad Aiken (1930 winner of the Pulitzer Prize).
The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs directly through Brewster and allows its vacationers a more “old fashioned” method by which to explore this little Cape Cod gem. It is actually an old rail line that was dug up many years ago. The scenic bike path runs right along Cranberry Bogs, glacier lakes and through the 1900 acre Nickerson State forest and has become a big draw for Brewster vacation rentals. 1/3 of all Brewster land is conservation, open space, recreation or watershed protection. Combine that with 15 bed and breakfast/Inns and over 30 art galleries and you can see why Brewster rentals have been, and remain, popular to this day.
Some of the more popular attractions and destinations in Brewster are the Ocean Edge Resort where you can enjoy
the newly designed Jack Nicklaus golf course as well as the Ocean Edge restaurants such as the Ocean
Terrace, the 1890 Restaurant, and the Ocean Edge Reef café.
